My Guitars
We all know that guitar players love guitars! I get asked about my guitars all the time so I thought I'd provide some info, thoughts and preferences here on the 5th Fret site.
This is my 1939 Martin D-18. It's the guitar you hear most often on my studio work and sometimes at live shows.
My main "go to work" guitar these day is a 2018 Martin D-18 Authentic '39. It's an incredible guitar that is remarkably similar to the the actual 1939. See my comparison video on youtube for more on that.
I also spend a lot of time with my 1951 Matin 000-21, 1955 D-28 and my Gearld Strickland custom slope shoulder mahogany dread. Gearld does all of my instrument maintenance and is simply outstanding!!!
What Capo do I use?
I use Elliot Capos. Hand made and built to stand the test of time...and they look great too!
What strings do I use?
D'Addario medium gauge strings on my dreads and lights on the 000. As for which metal or blend of metal it varies by guitar.
What Pick do I use?
I prefer a tri-point pick that's 1.4mm thick. I typically use an Apollo Pick or real shell.
